I've installed OpenACS 4 several times, but not OpenACS 5 yet. My impression is that the database code is complete for Oracle, but incomplete for PostgreSQL. But the biggest initial problem is figuring out what to do about the webserver, at least in the case that you also have to host Apache-served websites on the same machine. There seem to be several options (I think this is all. If you want AOLServer virtual hosting, that's another complication. Don't know whether AOLServer can proxy to Apache, but if so that would be another option):
